As our air turns colder it affects the condition or our skin! In this blog making these 6 simple tweaks will make your skin very happy and rehydrated.
The sensation Fall gives us when the cold air hits our skin and when we breath in the crisp cool air is exhilarating. We all feel the change of Fall. I love this feeling as it ignites all of our senses especially the visual aspect of Fall with the gorgeous colors or how fresh the air smells engaging all of our senses at once! With the changing of the season is also the changing of our skin with the new cool air affecting how it feels and looks. Here are some tips to avoid skin looking crepey (wrinkly) and feeling prickly. These will help you to be prepared for dry winter skin.
Use a humidifier. Humidifiers are appliances designed to introduce moisture into the air, helping to combat dryness that can lead to discomfort in various areas of the body.
These devices are especially beneficial for alleviating dryness in the skin, nose, throat, and chapped irritated lips. Additionally, they can provide relief from certain symptoms associated with the flu or a common cold.
A humidifier creates humidity that acts as a natural moisturizing agent that can relieve dryness, especially when it’s cold outdoors when the air is dryer. For this reason, humidifiers are often used to help relieve: dry irritated skin, dry nose and mouth, chapped lips and eczema, skin rashes and so on. This happens when you have low humidity turn your heat on that is also dry, so a humidifier is a good idea!
Here are the best top 3 humidifiers tested by CNN. I personally prefer the Pure brand with cool mist that is ultrasonic for my bedroom with a more spa feel but for larger rooms the Dreo (also ultrasonic) is better with the warm or cool mist choices. https://www.cnn.com/cnnunderscored/reviews/best-humidifier
Be aware, if you have too much humidity your home will feel stuffy. It also can cause condensation, which is when water vapor in the air turns liquid. Droplets may form on walls, floors and other surfaces or may cause mold. To avoid this monitor your humidity levels.
Adding essential oils to your humidifier is a great way to bring essential oils into your daily life and transform your home. Essential oils can help to boost your mood, improve your sleep, add humidity for skin and purify the air. If you want to add oil to a humidifier be sure it's ultrasonic, it's best for essential oils as the vibration helps distribute the oil better. When using a filtered humidifier be sure to change or clean the filter every few months. Now, which are the best essential oils to use with a humidifier?
When using essential oils with a humidifier, it's important to use high-quality, pure essential oils. This is because impure essential oils may contain harmful chemicals. It's also important to only use a few drops of essential oil, as too much could be overwhelming.
Many people around the world use essential oils with humidifiers to improve their living spaces but to also give you relief from dry winter skin. So, what are the advantages of using essential oils in a humidifier? Below is a list of symptoms with what essential oils to use:
Clean and purify the air - Rosemary and Lemon
Enhance your mood, concentration and energy - Bergamot or Peppermint
Promote relaxation and better sleep - Lavender
Alleviate stress, anxiety, and tension headaches - Eucalyptus or Peppermint
Ease symptoms of colds and flu - Frankincense
Soothe sore throats and reduce congestion - Ginger, Lemon & Orange
Hydrate skin - Hydra Boost Toner (say what?)...
Yes, you can add Face It Skin Hydra Boost Toner to your humidifier! It is already the perfect blend of safe oils to humectify the skin and air besides smelling lovely. I add about 1/8 cup to a small room humidifier.
Dry cracked and irritated lips! Using a product with peppermint oil give instant relief and stimulation for healing lips. Besides pulling in our sensations with Luxe Lips touches your lips it has many other benefits. Below are the key ingredients and the why of these ingredients...

I've added mica as an ingredient as it filters suns rays but also adds a beautiful shimmer and cushion to lips.
Drink electrolytes! Electrolytes are minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium; conducts electricity when mixed with water. They enable cells to generate energy, balance pH, and help regulate water composition in the body, from the intracellular environment to the extracellular circulation. Electrolytes help your cells hang on to moisture and is important to note that in addition to providing moisture to the skin, electrolytes also help to replenish and strengthen the skin barrier, avoiding aggressions from the environment or changes aging right from the inner structures of the skin over time. Believe it or not Hibiscus tea is a potassium powerhouse.
Hibiscus tea, with its vibrant hue and sweet tangy flavor, is not only refreshing but also packed with potassium, an essential electrolyte for maintaining proper muscle function. 2 cups a day is easy and then just add milk for your magnesium or have it in your vitamins. So easy! If tea is not for you consider adding Himalayan Sea Salt to your water. Although the salt chemical formula for both table salt and sea salt alike is mostly sodium chloride, the sea salt composition also contains more trace minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium which are electrolytes.
High-quality sea salts typically contain upward of 60 trace minerals, and for specific types like Himalayan sea salt, that number is said to be closer to 84. Either way, sea salts are a great source of micronutrients. Eating sea salt in moderation every day helps keep your sodium levels balanced. This is important for maintaining the right sodium-potassium ratios. Sodium and potassium are electrolytes found in many sports drinks, and they work together to maintain proper fluid balance in your body's cells (like skin cells), blood plasma, and extracellular fluid. When I'm in a hurry and feeling dehydrated I just place about a pinch on my tongue and chug my water bottle to rehydrate skin cells or any cells.
Finally, this blog wouldn't seem final without mentioning Luxe Serum. Luxe Serum was developed and designed to mimic skins acid mantle. Your acid mantle is a fluid mixture your skin produces that rise upward to lay on the skin to hydrate and protect your skin. Think of it as a liquid coat of armor for your skin! In the Fall and Winter our skin needs help with this function and is why my first product created was Luxe serum.
