The search for the perfect concealer often feels overwhelming, especially for individuals dealing with dry skin and/or dark circles. You just don't know where to start! Many think they need a green or colored corrector under their concealer, and others wear concealer that is either too light or too dark. Finding a product that matches your skin tone while addressing your specific skin concerns can be challenging. Fortunately, with modern advancements like Face It Skins' Dual-Action Concealer, you can cover, correct, highlight and stay hydrated without the worry of settling into fine lines. Let’s explore how to select and apply the ideal concealer tailored to your needs!

Undertones
To choose the right concealer, begin by identifying your undertone. An undertone is what a makeup artist perceives when examining both the surface of your skin and beneath it. We typically observe either a yellow or blue hue in the client's skin. The best way to determine this is by examining the inside of your wrist, where the skin is thinner and usually less exposed to the sun. Let me clarify: you either have a cool undertone or a warm undertone, which we refer to as yellow or blue/pink. This will help you select the most suitable formulation and color for your needs. Here's a tip: about 90% of people have a warm undertone, making pink-toned skin less common. However, a yellow-based concealer is superior, as it provides excellent coverage and effectively counteracts all dark circles the best!
Your Concerns
For Dark Circles: Choose a peachy or yellow-toned concealer (warm). These shades work to neutralize blue undertones, brightening your eye area so there is no need for a color corrector under your concealer. For example, a 2019 survey indicated that 75% of users reported a significant improvement in the brightness of their under-eye area with yellow-toned concealers.
For Blemishes: A demi-matte finish can help diminish the appearance of blemishes without drawing attention to the texture of the pimple. A matte concealer will show the texture more, while having too much shine will accentuate the pimple, so a demi-matte it is!
For Age Spots: Light-diffusing ingredients, such as mica, can effectively minimize the
visibility of age spots. Choosing a concealer the same color as your foundation is best!
For Puffy Eyes: Having caffeine in your concealer helps to keep puffiness down. Caffeine stimulates micro-circulation, contains powerful antioxidants and provides anti-inflammatory benefits.
Understanding these details will help you select a concealer that not only covers but enhances your beauty naturally. Face It Skin Dual-Action Concealer actually has all of these ingredients for these specific reasons.

Finding the Right Shade
Choosing the correct shade can make or break your makeup look. Follow these guidelines to find your perfect match:
Select a Shade Close to Your Foundation: For blemishes or age spots, match the concealer as closely as possible to your foundation. Go for a shade darker than what you would wear under your eyes. The shade you choose for under your eyes also highlights, so we don't want to highlight a pimple or dark spot. This ensures a seamless blend. If your foundation is a perfect match go ahead and blend your concealer with your foundation so it takes on more of the color of your foundation.
Choose a Lighter Shade for Brightening: When addressing dark circles, aim for a shade one shade lighter than your foundation. Remember this should be a yellow tone. This helps lift your look while maintaining a natural appearance.
Test Under Natural Light: Always test shades in natural lighting. This will show how they work with your skin tone. If you have a concealer of foundation that looks slightly pink or gray it's too light. If you have shades on that look muddy or dirty it's too dark. A shade that disappears on your skin without being completely blended is perfect! As a makeup artist I test the color of the foundation first as that will lead me to my concealer shade.
Account for Undertones: Knowing whether your undertone is warm or cool is going to lead you as the first step to finding your perfect shade. Selecting a concealer with the right undertone is crucial for a flawless finish.
Tips for Application
You’ve chosen the perfect shade. Now, let's talk about how to apply it for the best results:

Step 1: Prep Your Skin
Prepare your skin with a hydrating moisturizer designed for dry skin. I use Hydra Bomb Eye & Face Cream on all of my clients for all occasions. Use more than you think for dryer skin and less for oily skin. This layer helps the concealer sit well, preventing it from settling into fine lines.
Step 2: Use the Right Tools
A foundation or concealer brush will give the best results. A sponge harbors bacteria from the products absorbed into it so a brush is a must!
Step 3: Target Areas Strategically

For Dark Circles/Deep Set Eyes: Use a specially designed brush that is wide enough to cover the area and apply a medium-sized dot on the brush starting at your brow on the upper inside of your eye. Float downward then outward just at your cheek, making a upside-open "C" shape and ensure it is applied tight under your lash line yet extends to the apple of your cheek. A moderate amount in a "C" shape beneath your eyes should be enough, and you can add more if necessary. Get close to your lash line at your temple working outward. This gives a lift! Blend with fingertips in a patting motion. Do not rub as it moves the concealer from the area we want to conceal.
For Blemishes or Age Spots: Dab a tiny bit of concealer directly onto the imperfection and blend the edges gently. Remember it should match your skin or you can blend it with your foundation to make it so.
Step 4: Set with Powder
If your skin is dry, you may want to skip this step under your eyes ( I do) but apply powder to the rest of your face and neck for extra coverage.
The Magic of Dual-Action Formulas

This formula is multi-functional; not only does it conceal, but it also corrects skin tone and offers hydrating properties, so it won’t sink into fine lines. Maintenance Tips
To keep your concealer looking fresh throughout the day:

Store Correctly: Keep your concealers away from extreme temperatures, which can affect their performance.
Clean Your Tools: Regularly wash your brushes to avoid bacteria, which can lead to breakouts.
