Gorgeous skin begins from the inside out AND what skincare you use at home. I recommend a diet rich in fresh, seasonal produce centered around key ingredients that nourish your skin. It’s never too late to make a change, so as we welcome the new season, let’s kick off an autumn skincare revival. This time of year offers a wealth of seasonal fruits and vegetables that are not only tasty but also great for your skin’s health. With apples, pears, and plums in abundance, you’ll find a treasure trove of antioxidants to shield your skin from free radical damage.
Pumpkins and butternut squash are loaded with beta-carotene, which the body transforms into vitamin A, enhancing skin cell renewal and giving you that radiant glow. Leafy greens like kale and spinach flourish in the cooler months and are fantastic sources of vitamins C and E, essential for collagen production and skin repair. Additionally, beetroot, carrots, and sweet potatoes are in season this autumn, packed with carotenoids that can enhance your skin tone and offer protection against UV damage. Pumpkin is a true symbol of autumn. This bright orange fruit is rich in vitamin A, which helps with cell renewal and collagen growth. It also has a lot of vitamin C, which protects the skin from damage and makes it glow.
Have I seen your teen recently? I see a lot of teens for acne and if you have a teen with acne please be sure they are taking zinc. Zinc is an essential mineral which boosts immune function. It can reduce the inflammatory response seen with acne. Because zinc regulates cell production and turnover and can help reduce the amount of natural oil your skin produces. This reduces congestion, in turn preventing pores from clogging.
Fun Fact: Did you know Rose Glow Balm has apple in it???
Apples are great for our skin but often overlooked. They are rich in fiber, which helps digestion and keeps skin clear and radiant. The skin of the apple has quercetin, a pigment that fights aging and protects against UV damage, so eat the skin as well. Apples also provide vitamin C, which is important for collagen production and improving skin tone. Avoid apple juice, as it has a lot of sugar and not many health benefits.
Kale is my top choice for detoxing. It's great for skin health because it's packed with nutrients. It has a lot of vitamins A, C, and K, which help make collagen, improve skin elasticity, and lessen dark circles. The antioxidants in kale fight oxidative stress, helping to prevent early aging and improve skin color. Eating kale regularly can keep the skin hydrated, clear out pores, and minimize fine lines, making it a fantastic option for looking youthful.
Here's a kale pesto recipe for you to try: https://www.loveandlemons.com/kale-pesto/ If you don't want to make it and want a great kale dip Trader Joes has their, Vegan Kale Cashew Pesto dip that is so good for your skin and contains protein. It's next to the humus after the produce. It's an amazing snack!
The foods I am mentioning are three skin-loving superstars. Eating seasonal fresh foods really has an amazing impact for your skin and health but really boosts our moods too!
Fact: There is always a relation to everything that the skin and stomach absorb. They are connected.
