As a skincare enthusiast who loves clean beauty, I have been on a mission to find effective products without harmful chemicals. My journey from years of experience as a Pro Makeup Artist using traditional synthetic products and not knowing the difference led me to discover six incredible ingredients that, when paired with my favorite skincare staples, can significantly improve skin. In this post, I want to share my firsthand experiences with Aloe Vera, Dandelion, Honey, Comfrey, Rosehip Seed Oil, and Lavender. You won't believe the amazing benefits they can bring to your daily routine!
The Soothing Power of Aloe Vera
Even though I consider aloe one of the best ingredients for radiant skin, Aloe Vera has been celebrated for its soothing properties for centuries. Once I started using Aloe Vera, I noticed its miraculous effects almost immediately.
Aloe Vera is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that nourish the skin. It offers fast hydration, which makes it perfect for dry or irritated skin. When I decided Aloe Vera needed to be in my products as I first started developing, I saw an increased improvement in clients skin of dryness, redness, and inflammation decrease by about 30% in just a week, giving everyone's skin a calm, radiant look.
Its lightweight texture absorbs quickly, leaving no oily residue—a huge plus for everyone! Its usually the first or in the top five ingredient in every product I now make. If you have sensitive skin or just want to maintain hydration, products with a lot of aloe vera are great. In fact my Luxe Potion is loaded with it.

Dandelion: The Detox Hero & Powerhouse Ingredient for Radiant Skin
You may be surprised to find Dandelion listed as a skincare champion, but trust me—this common flower packs a punch! Yes, flower! It's actually not a weed and is very edible. I discovered Dandelion in tea, and since I know the relationship your stomach has with your skin, I know this is so good for us inside and out! I had a meeting with my manufacturer's chemists, and it was unanimous: Dandelion was a natural (pun intended) choice for my indie skincare brand. I was so excited to add this to our base ingredient list!
Dandelion is rich in vitamins A, C, E, and K, and minerals along with antioxidants that help fend off free radicals. It works wonders for detoxifying the skin and contains folate, which helps new cell function and growth! Ever since I started using dandelion-infused products, all of my clients' complexions have brightened significantly—with regular use, you'll notice a difference in evenness of tone in just a few uses.
Additionally, Dandelion’s anti-inflammatory properties make it effective for managing inflamed skin. It helps reduce redness and swelling from skin conditions, like rosacea, cystic acne, eczema, and psoriasis. If your skin needs a gentle detox, don’t overlook this little flower!

The Golden Goodness of Honey
Honey is not just for sweetening tea; it is a skincare powerhouse! I’ve been using natural honey in my cleansers, face masks and moisturizers, and the results are absolutely rewarding.
Honey serves as a natural humectant, drawing moisture into the skin and keeping it hydrated and supple. This is a major reason why honey is included in many of my products. When combined with Aloe Vera and essential oils, these foundational ingredients become even more potent due to their interaction, resulting in more revitalizing products. You will notice your skin glowing and feeling soft for hours, and with regular use, for days! Natural chemistry, what a blessing.

Plus, honey is known for its antibacterial properties, which make it perfect for inflamed skin such as face acne, psoriasis, and eczema. It helps fight bacteria by absorbing the water in the pore, leading to a significant reduction in breakouts over a few weeks. Honey’s possible role in helping acne could be about its ability to reduce water content within the pore lining. The sugars (honey is 69% sugar) literally dry up the water, and with less water, the P. acnes can’t thrive deep in the skin, where acne begins. For smooth, glowing skin, honey is your sweet fix!
Comfrey: The Skin Healer
Comfrey may not be widely recognized in skincare, but it is a gem that warrants attention. This herb has a long history of healing applications, and I can back this up with my own experience.
Comfrey roots and leaves contain allantoin, a substance that helps new skin cells grow, along with other substances that reduce inflammation and keep skin healthy. Now imagine this mixed with the other ingredients mentioned and we're starting to blend a bountiful beautiful reaction for the skin! The comfrey plant contains several beneficial compounds which help to revive tired, aged, wrinkled skin. Recent research conducted by the University of Liverpool has confirmed that there are graceful-aging properties found within comfrey which they hope to discover hold ‘longer-life’ skin effects. https://news.liverpool.ac.uk/2015/12/17/face-cream-ingredient-found-to-mimic-life-extending-effects-of-a-calorie-restriction-diet/
Additionally, Comfrey is fantastic for soothing irritation, making it beneficial for issues like sunburns or rashes. If you want to enhance your skin's healing abilities, consider adding Comfrey to your regimen!

Comfrey is included in my Refreshing Retinol Cream, where it works alongside retinol to reduce the irritation that retinol can cause. This combination allows many people to use my retinol cream successfully without experiencing irritation. Luxe Refreshing Retinol Cream is used for graceful aging and acne.
Radiant Rosehip Seed Oil
Rosehip Seed Oil is one of the standout stars in my skincare journey. This versatile oil has quickly become a go-to product and is one of the first ingredients I learned about when making my first product, Luxe Serum.
Rich in omega fatty acids and vitamins A and C, Rosehip Seed Oil is outstanding for hydration and rejuvenation. During the testing phases, I, along with over 20 others, used it daily as a serum. After just three weeks, the skin's texture improved significantly, and elasticity increased by 25%. I combined this ingredient with Lavender, Sunflower, Safflower, Vitamin E, and many other nourishing oils to replicate your skin's natural acid mantle. The acid mantle is a natural mixture your skin produces to rise to the surface and protect it. Many people lack this, but it can be restored by using Luxe Serum.
It also combats aging, reducing the appearance of fine lines and can assist with dark spots remarkably. If you’re a clean beauty lover seeking natural solutions, this oil is a game changer!
The Calming Essence of Lavender
Finally, we have the tranquil and soothing effects of Lavender. I frequently use Lavender essential oil alongside other ingredients for a relaxing feeling for our skincare routine. Neurocosmetics anyone?

Not only does Lavender smell heavenly, with its soothing and floral aroma that can transport you to a serene field of blooming flowers, but it also features powerful anti-inflammatory and antiseptic qualities that make it a remarkable ingredient in skincare. The essential oils extracted from Lavender are rich in compounds that can effectively heal the skin and calm irritations caused by various conditions such as breakouts, eczema, or compromised skin due to environmental factors or sun damage. The anti-inflammatory properties help reduce redness and swelling, making it an ideal choice for those with sensitive skin or conditions that require gentle care. Furthermore, the antiseptic qualities of Lavender work to cleanse the skin, preventing the growth of bacteria that can lead to further breakouts or infections. In my experience, incorporating Lavender into our daily skincare routine has not only improved the overall health and appearance of our skin but has also positively influenced our mood and emotional well-being. The calming scent of Lavender is known to reduce anxiety and stress levels, promoting a sense of relaxation and tranquility. This dual benefit of Lavender—enhancing skin health while simultaneously uplifting our spirits—makes it a truly invaluable addition to our Neurocosmetic product lineup. Whether used in serums, lotions, or bath products, Lavender's multifaceted properties provide a holistic approach to beauty and self-care, allowing us to nurture our skin while also taking care of our mental and emotional health.
For those looking for a soothing and effective beauty routine, Lavender, along with its well-known companions, emerges as a standout ingredient.
